Pink Lady

Mariah Carey has made her way to Paris, France to do some promo work for her new album E=MC2 which is due to be released on April 15. Here are a few pics of Miss Mimi showin' off her goods outside the George V hotel ... goods that are nicely wrapped in a tight pink leather jacket:

Work. It. Out. Gurl. Mariah just can't seem to turn off her fierceness. The pink and black combo really suits her, don't you think? [Source]

Gwen's New Projects

Here are a few new photos of the always happy, semi-perfect Stefani-Rossdale clan as they made their out this weekend to run a few errands and generally spend some happy family bonding time together. In between all this running around, Gwen Stefani posted an update on NoDoubt.com talking about being back in the studio with the boys in the band working on their new album together. Here are pics of Gwen, Gavin and Kingston out and about over the weekend and the full text of Gwen's post on the official No Doubt forum:

Hey No Doubters,

Been thinking so much about you all lately as I am back in the studio again with the boys trying to write some new music.

What an amazing few years it has been. So inspired going through the dance record phase of my life. Thank you so much for all your support! The tour was incredible. We ended up doing over 100 shows around the world and it was so rewarding and again inspiring. Thank you to everyone who came out to see it ... memories for life! Great to be home with all my boys.

Feels crazy to be pregnant all over again!!!!! We have been spending every day up in the little studio in our house trying to write music. My favorite part so far is just seeing the guys everyday and hanging out. We have so much fun together. The songwriting part is a bit slow on my part...I think it has something to do with the baby in my belly but I'm sure it is all of the process and I really believe this could be the most inspired No Doubt record so far.

Cant wait to see what happens.

All my love
g

Gah ... she is so sweet and cute, it's kinda gross, no? I do love that she took the time to post this little update on the No Doubt site ... it sounds like she's living a very charmed, very happy life so I guess it can't be so surprising that she's so chipper and upbeat all the time. I can't wait for her 2 new projects ... I wonder if the new No Doubt album will be timed for the release of her new baby. [Source]

This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race

Madonna was photographed showing off her massively pumped up arms this weekend as she made her way home from the gym:

Maddy looks like she's ready to whip some ass ... I pity the diva that gets on her bad side ... or if Guy Ritchie tries to get smart. [Source]

The TV Guide: The Long Goodbye

Yesterday was full of sad goodbyes ... it was David's last full day here in LA before he had to fly back East to NYC and it was also Steph and Alek's last day before they had to fly back even more East to Paris, France where they will be for the next 4 weeks 3 weeks 2 weeks (it's unclear just how long they will be away ... the time keeps getting shorter and shorter every time I ask them about it). Mike G., David, Darion and I swung by S&A's place for one last goodbye yesterday afternoon ... and, of course, we had to take a couple of last minute pics before saying goodbye:

We got to hang out for a bit before we had to be off ... David, Mike G. and I had dinner plans before I was to take David to the airport so Darion tagged along for a quick bite to eat at Fat Fish in West Hollywood. Jordan, who was in the neighborhood, stopped by to hang out for a while as well. I got to meet Pink reader Brandon at the restaurant who came over to say hello during dinner. It was while we were finished up that Steph and Alek sent a couple pics from the airport and from their plane before they departed for France:

I have to say ... I'm really gonna miss these guys. We all got so close over the past few weeks, it's sad that they're gone for so long. But they've got biz to take care of at home and they'll be back in SoCal in no time. I'm already looking forward to the big celebration we'll have when they return to LA.

After we dropped David off at the airport, Mike G. and I grabbed some coffee at Insomnia before going to the movies to see American Zombie:

Now, the movie was Mike G.'s pick and he really enjoyed it ... I'm still not sure how I feel about the flick. The movie is a faux documentary of the lives of zombies living in America. It has a humorous bent to it for the first half of the film but then it takes a decidedly darker tone as the movie progresses. It doesn't really become a horror film, per se, but it is a bit disturbing. The movie just felt really weird to me. I didn't love it but I didn't hate it either. The movie is very inventive storywise but I'm not sure that the execution was really that successful. But as I said, Mike really liked it so I'm sure there's a market.

This evening, I'm meeting up with Mike and Adriana for dinner in Silverlake and that's about it, I think. I want to try and get some work done tonight ahead of tomorrow's big day. I have to be at the Dancing with the Stars taping pretty early in the afternoon so I'll have limited time to write in the AM. But WOOT! I'm finally going to get to see Kylie Minogue with my own eyes ... I can't wait!!!

J. Lo Is Lookin' Lighter

Jennifer Lopez and her hubby Marc Anthony were on hand for the NYC premiere of the new Rolling Stones movie Shine A Light which made its NYC premiere this weekend at the Ziegfeld Theater. While the focus should've been on the Rolling Stones and their new Martin Scorsese-directed documentary concert film, all eyes were on the stunning J. Lo ... here are a couple of pics of Jenny at this weekend's premiere:

Just five weeks after giving birth to twins, Jennifer Lopez stepped out last night looking, svelte, with little sign left of the massive 50lb she gained during her pregnancy. Jennifer, 38, took to the red carpet in a draped black Grecian dress at the premiere of the Rolling Stones new rockumentary 'Shine A Light' which revealed the singer is clearly almost back in to her pre-pregnancy best. She arrived with husband Marc Anthony, but all eyes were on the radiant mother of twins Maximilian David and Emme Maribel, born February 22. Jennifer looked the epitome of glamour with her trademark glowing make-up, hair swept up in a chic bun, and black body-skimming dress.

La Diva Latina is deffo back in full effect! J. Lo recently told OK! magazine that she is in no hurry to lose her baby weight but it looks like she's getting back to her smaller size anyways. I hope it won't be long until we get to see J. Lo out and about with her twin babies Max and Emme ... I think it'd be an amazing idea to get those kiddies out in the fresh air and sunlight so that they don't end up with daddy Darc Anthony's pallid color. I don't think that anyone is really interested in zombie babies. J. Lo's offspring ought to be absolutely and stunningly faboo just like their moms. [Source]

The Fall Of Paris

Poor Paris Hilton. The socialite's constant need for attention has finally led to embarrassment and injury ... well, again. Paris, who spent part of her weekend in the Czech Republic with the men of Good Charlotte (who are on tour there), got caught in a paparazzi melee that resulted in an accidental fall that left her face bruised and swollen. Here are a couple pics of Paris's stumble this weekend:

Socialite Paris Hilton has been left with a swollen and grazed chin - after she was swarmed by paparazzi while exiting a restaurant in the Czech Republic. The reality TV star is currently touring with boyfriend Benji Madden and his band Good Charlotte in Europe, with the pair squeezing in a romantic sightseeing tour together in Prague on Sunday. But their plans were scuppered when the 27-year-old's presence led to hysteria amongst photographers clambering to take her picture, with a major fight breaking out amongst rival snappers. And after seeking solace in a local restaurant in Prague's famous Staromestska Square, Hilton fell trying to escape the paparazzi as she tried to make her exit from the eaterie.

How tragic! [Source]

It is extremely rare for Paris Hilton to shun any eager photographers that may want to take her picture but for some reason, Paris wasn't all that keen on showing off her injured chin:

The poor dear. While I'm sure her injury was a bit painful, I'm sure her ego is the one that took the brunt of the punishment. Paris prides herself on living her life in front of the cameras ... unfortch, when you invite the paparazzi into every facet of your life they tend to want to record the bad stuff too. Chin up, Paris ... I'm sure you'll be healed and ready to mug for all the cameras again soon enough.

Harlow On The Downlow

New mom Nicole Richie took her baby daughter Harlow Winter out and about as they made their way to a baby party this past weekend ... you know, so that Harlow can network and make new contacts with other babies in her field. Here are a couple pics of Nicole with Harlow nicely tucked away inside her domed baby carrier:

I believe this is the first time that Harlow has been seen since her adorable photospread in People magazine came out last month. I suspect it may be some time before she is allowed to see the light of day outside of the safe confines of her little container but I'm sure it won't be long 'til the little darling is walking hand in hand with her parents. Until then, in the box she stays. [Source]

You Win Some, You Lose Some

The LA Galaxy tasted the agony of defeat this weekend in their opening MLS season game against the Colorado Rapids as they had their butts handed to them in a 4-0 loss in Commerce City, CO this past Saturday. David Beckham, the Galaxy's star player, explained that he was having a "tough" time of it during the game since he had just flown back to the US after participating in an International game earlier in the week in Europe ... but he is hopeful the rest of the season will get better. Hmm. Here are a few pics of Becks in Saturday's game against the Rapids:

David Beckham's first regular-season game for the Los Angeles Galaxy was a disaster as his side suffered a 4-0 drubbing by the Colorado Rapids and had Abel Xavier sent off. Beckham played in his first regular-season game in Colorado since joining the Galaxy last year. Beckham flew back from Europe after playing for England against France last Wednesday. "It's always going to be tough when you have international games," Beckham said. "I felt OK for most of the match, maybe not at my sharpest, but it was overall a tough game for us. We created chances, but didn't put them away." Colorado's English import Terry Cooke made more impact than Beckham, scoring the 10th minute opener and creating another goal. It was the third goal for Cooke, who made his MLS debut in 2005 following two years with Sheffield Wednesday. Christian Gomez converted a 60th minute penalty, Omar Cummings scored in the 67th minute and Colin Clark added the fourth goal 10 minutes from time.. Things got testy toward the end of the game. In the 90th minute, Galaxy defender Xavier was issued a red card after tackling Ciaran O'Brien. Right after that, O'Brien's hard tackle on Carlos Ruiz earned him a red card. "I'm finding it hard not to criticize some of the decisions tonight but I've just been told I'll be fined if I do," Beckham said. "I don't want that to happen. Referees have a tough job, but some decisions change games, and that's happened tonight" ... The Galaxy said the altitude played a part in their sluggish play, and that Gomez's goal deflated them. "The turning point was the penalty kick," Galaxy head coach Ruud Gullit said. "That caused a little bit of chaos in our organization, and we lost our head a little bit." Seven minutes later, Cummings got behind the Galaxy defense and made it 3-0. Clark finished the scoring when he maneuvered by Xavier and beat Cronin to the short side to make it 4-0. Beckham created chances for the Galaxy. In the 27th minute, his free kick went to Landon Donovan at the far post, but his popped-up shot was caught by goalie Bouna Coundoul. A minute later, Beckham had another free kick that was knocked wide, and then Beckham came down the right side alone and sent a pass across to Ely Allen, whose header attempt went wide. "That's Beckham, that's the way he plays and that's his strength," Coundoul said. "Before the game I reviewed how he kicks them so I kind of knew where the ball would be." The Galaxy's best chance to even the score came in the 45th minute, and again Beckham started things. His free kick from the left got to the goal mouth, but Cooke was able to control the ball before Carlos Ruiz could knock it in.

After the loss, Becks had to admit that the Galaxy deserved to lose since they didn't really play well thruout the game:

"Not our best night," Beckham said. "In the first half we didn't play our best but we created chances. When you don't play good football you don't deserve to win" ... Beckham and the Galaxy will have a chance to claim their first triumph when the team makes its home debut Thursday against San Jose. "We've got a good team. We've got good players," Beckham said. "We just need to take the positive from this and move on."

Personally, I'm still willing to cut the guy some slack. I hope he won't be flying back to Europe every other week to play over there because I really do believe all the traveling does have an averse effect on his game. He just needs to focus on the task at hand with the LA Galaxy and they'll start winning games. They have to ... otherwise someone's gonna demand a refund for that $50+ million dollar contract ;) [Source, Source]

Becks was already back home in LA by Sunday so he decided to take in an LA Lakers basketball game last night ... here are a few pics of Becks cheering the Lakers on to a 126-120 victory over the Washington Wizards:

Well, at least one LA team had a good weekend :) Ah well ... again, I'm sure that Becks will be able to start pulling in wins for the Galaxy. I predict the home opening game this Thursday will be a happy one for the Galaxy.

Fair Play

As I mentioned previously, Madonna graces the cover of the new Green issue of Vanity Fair magazine ... and today VanityFair.com has posted the full text of Maddy's coverstory online for our reading pleasure. Here are Madonna's cover and 2-page splash photos, shot by Steven Meisel, and excerpts from her exclusive coverstory with VF mag:

Madonna appears on the cover of Vanity Fair for the 10th time, posing for photographer and longtime collaborator Steven Meisel for V.F.'s third annual Green Issue. The inspiration for the cover image (Madonna holding up a custom-made globe of the world measuring four feet in diameter) came from the cover of a mid-century fashion magazine and the 1920s work of Czech photographer Frantisek Drtikol. Madonna tells Vanity Fair contributing editor Rich Cohen that in high school, "I was one of those people that people were mean to." She continues, "I wasn't a hippie or a stoner, so I ended up being the weirdo. I was interested in classical ballet and music, and the kids were quite mean if you were different ... When that happened, instead of being a doormat, I decided to emphasize my differences. I didn't shave my legs. I had hair growing under my arms. I refused to wear makeup, or fit the ideal of what a conventionally pretty girl would look like. So of course I was tortured even more, and that further validated my superiority, and helped me to survive and say, 'I'm getting out of here, and everyone is a heathen in this school—you don't even know who Mahler is!'" Madonna draws on the same kinds of survival skills today when it comes to dealing with all of the media attention, telling Cohen, "You have to get to a point where you care as little about getting smoke blown up your ass as you do when you become a whipping boy in the press, because ultimately they both add up to shit. You just have to keep doing your work, and hope and pray somebody's dialing into your frequency. If your joy is derived from what society thinks of you, you're always going to be disappointed."

In this interview, Madonna talks about a range of issues, including Britney Spears:

"Yes, I know. I know exactly what you're going to say. It's very painful. Which leads us back to our question: When you think about the way people treat each other in Africa, about witchcraft and people inflicting cruelty and pain on each other, then come back here and, you know, people taking pictures of people when they're in their homes, being taken to hospitals, or suffering, and selling them, getting energy from them, that's a terrible infliction of cruelty. So who's worse off? You know what I mean?"

The way paparazzi culture has evolved:

"The paparazzi are out of control. I haven't been to Los Angeles in quite a while, and I don’t watch television here or in England, and I was told there's now a television show where the paparazzi are the stars of the show—is that true? That they film each other doing paparazzi jobs? Which gives them more fuel. I usually found that type kept their distance—they definitely do in England, because it's illegal to photograph children. But that's not how it is here. They get this close, and don't care how much they scare your children. Being famous has changed a lot, because now there's so many outlets, between magazines, TV shows, and the Internet, for people to stalk and follow you. We created the monster."

Her longevity in the music business:

"Honestly, it's not something I sit around ruminating about. Who is my role model and how long can I keep this going? I just move around and do different things and come back to music, try making films and come back to music, write children's books and come back to music."

Her thoughts on the current state of New York City:

"It's not the exciting place it used to be. It still has great energy; I still put my finger in the socket. But it doesn't feel alive, cracking with that synergy between the art world and music world and fashion world that was happening in the 80s. A lot of people died."

It's always interesting to hear Madonna's perspective on things and in this Vanity Fair interview, on newsstands nationally on April 8, she gives her $0.02 on other topics as well. [Source]

Additionally, VanityFair.com has posted a very cool slideshow of all of Madonna's coverphotos and appearances on/in their magazine HERE:

This look back at Madge's involvement with VF mag thruout the years comprises a really interesting timeline of her career as a whole. If you check out the photos from the Sex book era (circa 91-92), you'll remember how Madonna was not opposed to showing off her bare chest and bare bottom ... now that's a Madonna that we've not seen for quite some time now. I can't wait to read the new Madonna VF interview but I'll also have to spend some time going thru this archival slideshow and looking back on the Madonna who changed the music industry forever. Kylie In America

Kylie Minogue has, at long last, made her way here to the US to do a bit of promo for the US release of her 10th album X which will be released in American stores tomorrow. Kylie appeared in a live interview with Matt Lauer on the Today Show this morning and here is the live interview in full for your viewing pleasure:

Of course, since Kylie isn't a big household name here in this country, the Today Show had to dig out archival footage of Kylie from her Locomotion days was back in the late '80's to refresh American memories (and to embarrass our dear Kylie) of this little Aussie pixie on their TV screens but, by and large, the interview was a good one. I just love the fact that she's in our country in the first place ... getting to see her on TV is icing on the cake. Here are a couple pictures of Kylie, lookin' totally faboo, during her appearance this morning:

Kylie will be the musical guest on ABC's Dancing with the Stars tomorrow night and she will be doing a few more promo appearances in the next couple of days. I am happy to report that Tony and I will be dressing up (the dress code for attendance includes slacks, a jacket and tie!) and attending the taping of DWS which features Kylie tomorrow afternoon (it tapes live for the East Coast). I'm not sure if I'll be able to FINALLY AT LONG LAST meet the incredible Kylie Minogue at tomorrow's taping but I'm going to do my best. It would be a shame to finally get to have the opportunity to meet her and not have it come to be ... but, to be honest, seeing her live in person will be thrill enough. I've been a loyal fan of hers since 1988 (aka "the Locomotion days") and this will be my first opportunity to see her live and in person with my own eyes. Needless to say I'm very excited for whatever will come to be tomorrow :)

Welcome to the US, Kylie ... we've been expecting you ... and for quite some time now!!!

Star Magazine Recants, Brangelina Remain Unwed

After a full day of "did they or didn't they" Star magazine is now backtracking on their report that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were wed in a small ceremony in New Orleans, LA on Saturday afternoon ... but their recant comes with a bit of explanation in order to try and save face:

Sources in a position to have information regarding a secret wedding ceremony between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie had confirmed to Star that the couple married in the French Quarter Wedding Chapel on Saturday, March 29. "There were two weddings, one planned and one unplanned," one source told Star. "Brad and Angelina's was the planned ceremony. The weather wasn't good, so we were indoors." After further investigation, the sources are not standing by their story. Brad and Angelina's reps have not commented.

I had a feeling that this Star magazine report might turn out this way ... a Brangelina wedding would not be able to fly under the radar so successfully that only one media outlet would know about it. When no other outlets offered confirmation of the nuptials, I figured this retraction of sorts would be forthcoming. And so, Brangelina remain unhitched and pregs. [Source]

The TV Guide: Hangin' With Reichen, Partying With Mike G.

Yesterday was a pretty fun and bizzy day. David and I were invited by Steph and Alek to their private photo shoot with Reichen Lehmkuhl yesterday afternoon and we happily accepted. As y'all know, I'm a big fan of Reichen so I was happy to tag along and offer any sort of help that might've been required of me (be it helping with dressing AND/OR undressing, oiling down muscles, etc.) but Steph and Alek had everything all covered (and shockingly, Reichen didn't need help getting dressed and undressed) ... but I was able to snap some behind the scenes pics of yesterday's photoshoot and still have a good time:

We had such a great afternoon and Reichen was so cool to let David me and hang out for his photoshoot. It was really a fun experience:

After the shoot was finished, we hightailed it to Pink Taco to meet up with Mike G. and his friends Amy and Matt, and my peeps Darion, Mike, Michael, Jordan and his little nephew for a dinner party celebration for Mike G.'s birthday ... here are a few pics from our dinner at Pink Taco and then from our afterparty at Akbar:

I got to meet Pink readers Nicole (at Pink Taco) and Gillian (at Akbar who is in town from San Francisco, CA) last night ... which was such a pleasure. At Akbar we ran into Jim and Derek who were partying with Jim's friends from Philly (friends from high school, I might add) who are in town for the weekend. Cyndy and I felt it necessary to take a cute pic together which I think turned out totally faboo. David and I were sure that we weren't going to stay out too late ... next thing we knew the lights came on and they were throwing us out onto the streets cuz the place was closing. It was crazy fun, tho :)

This afternoon we're gonna try and grab one last moment with Steph and Alek before they fly off to Paris, France for a month ... and then David flies back to NYC later on tonight. No worries tho, David will be back next weekend :)

I hope all y'all are having an amazing weekend ... thus far, it's been a pretty good one here in SoCal :)

Hot Dude Of The Week: Taylor

Huzzah! It's time for the Hot Dude of the Week again and this week we get to enjoy 2 hunks of male semi-nekkidness. Say hello to Taylor and his blurry friend whose face we can't quite make out but whose abs stand out pretty clearly:

I've always been a fan of guys who like to hang around together wearing as little clothing as possible, as if nothing could be more natural in the world. You find this sort of masculine behavior in locker rooms, fraternity houses and at gyms. I must say, it gives me a nice feeling seeing men being this comfortable with one another because it gives me hope that others find the same thing equally comfortable. Guys like Taylor are pioneers for helping world peace come to fruition ... after all, it'd be impossible to hate your neighbor if you loved him enough to stand around half-nekkid with him. See folks, Hot Dudes of the Week aren't just man-candy ... they're also goodwill ambassadors ... and for that they deserve our undying gratitude. [Source]

I Cho-Cho-Chose You, Margaret

I have got some mad lurve for comedienne Margaret Cho so I wanted to show her some of that lurve on the blog today. The insanely funny and talented Margaret spent part of her weekend performing at The Pearl theater inside the Palms Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, NV ... and here are a couple of pics:

Margaret performed here in LA last weekend but, unfortch, I was in NYC with David at the same time. I am not a big fan of stand-up comedy but I do love going out to see Margaret live on stage (Kathy Griffin is the only other comic that I'll venture out to see as well). I haven't seen Margaret live in many years ... the last time I saw her was back in Michigan when she performed at the Michigan Theater in Ann Arbor in the early '00s. I've been hearing rumblings that Margaret may be coming back to TV very soon and I couldn't be happier. She is truly one of the funniest people I've ever seen perform on stage and I am looking forward to enjoying her comic stylings again. BTW, she looks pretty damn cool in those pink sneaks ;) [Source]

It Just Won't Stop

The unceasing relationship between Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal continues to solider on (no matter how hard I keep wishing it into nonexistence) as we check out new photos of the couple making their return to LA from a quick holiday in Mexico with Reese's children Ava and Deacon. For some reason completely unknown to me, GyllenSpoon just keeps going and going and going ... check it out:

Ex-husband Ryan Phillippe confesses that he finds it "bizarre" seeing photos of Reese and Jake together and I must concur. I still have a hard time believing that they are an actual couple ... despite the fact that they do spend a lot of time together. They really look more like friends to me. But whatever they "are" to one another the fact remains that they are pretty much joined at the hip these days ... a fact that we all must deal with as best we can. I choose to live in my happy delusion that Reese and Jake are nothing more than besties who are spending way too much time together because they are both jaded by love. Reese prolly misses the happy days with Ryan and I know that Jake misses the days with Matthew McConaughey and Lance Armstrong ;) [Source]

How Charming

Charmed co-stars Shannen Doherty and Holly Marie Combs were spotted having dinner together this weekend at Nobu in Malibu, CA ... which means that the ladies were merely getting together to reminisce about the good ol' days OR they were possibly talking about perhaps maybe working on a project together. Here are a few pics of the ladies as they made their exit from the restaurant together:

Apparently, one of the paps did ask the ladies if they were planning to work together again soon and Holly Marie answered "it's possible" ... which is far from an admission but is better than nothing :) I understand there was bad blood between Shannen and the other Charmed co-star Alyssa Milano so I think it's foolhardy to count on a Charmed reunion ... but stranger things have happened. I'm just really happy to see Shannen and Holly together. I miss the Charmed days ... it's be amazing if they did work together again. [Source]

Gym Rat

Big pimpin' Jayden James Federline Spears spent part of his weekend chillin' with his posse (comprised of his bodyguard and his nanny) at his friendly neighborhood My Gym Friday afternoon lookin' like a champ. Here are a couple pics of the little tyke, who was also rockin' a rad pair of red Crocs shoes (which, it pains me to admit, don't look so horrrible on young'ns):

I'm not entirely sure why Sean Preston doesn't get in on the My Gym action with his little bro but maybe he's got his own peeps to chill with and doesn't want to be bothered. We haven't heard of any visits with mommy Britney Spears in some time now ... but I'm fairly certain things are going well on that front. I must admit, it's so entirely refreshing to not be inundated with tragic Britney Spears news and to see nice, normal pics of her kids just ... living their happy little lives. I just couldn't be more pleased that things appears to be steadily on track for Britney and her boys ... I always knew that the good would win out over the bad. [Source]

Kid-ding Around

Yesteday afternoon stars like Hayden Panettiere, Rihanna, America Ferrera and Ashlee Simpson glammed it up on the red orange carpet at the Pauley Pavilion in Westwood, CA for the 2008 Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards .. while stars like Shia LaBeouf and Emile Hirsch showed off their poor attempts at facial hair on said orange carpet. The artist formerly known as Destiny Cyrus, Miley Cyrus and Drake Bell were the big winners at yesterday's awards show (they each picked up two awards) but a great, slimey time was had by all ... here are a few pics from the orange carpet arrivals yesterday:

It was the best of both worlds at Saturday's Kids Choice Awards for Miley Cyrus, who took home trophies for favorite female singer and TV actress and rocked the show with a spirited performance of her hit song, "GNO — Girls Night Out." It was also a slime spectacle for the Nickelodeon children's television network, which broadcast the 21st annual show live from UCLA's Pauley Pavilion in front of 10,000 screaming fans, almost all of them teens and preteens. Akon crashed a dune buggy into giant containers of Nickelodeon's trademark green slime, Usher blasted a sumo wrestler with slime fired from a cannon and supermodel Heidi Klum, attached to a bungee cord and wearing a specially equipped "butt spike belt," flung herself into a wall covered with slime-filled balloons. "Don't try this at home," boxer Laila Ali said as Usher turned the cannon on the sumo wrestler. The slime stunts and other assorted foolishness — which included a soundtrack of celebrities burping as an instrumental version of the Village People song "YMCA" played in the background — took up so much time that presenters never got around to announcing three awards. In the categories that were announced, teen heartthrob Drake Bell was another double winner, collecting his third consecutive orange blimp-shaped trophy for favorite TV actor and another for favorite TV show for Drake and Josh. Drake and Josh upset Cyrus' hit program Hannah Montana in the TV show category. Other winners were Eddie Murphy for favorite voice from an animated movie for Shrek the Third, American Idol for favorite reality show and, one of the biggest crowd favorites of the night, the Jonas Brothers for favorite music group. The ever-polite Jonas Brothers each offered brief thank-yous. Chris Brown won for favorite male singer. Ryan Seacrest accepted the reality show award saying he looked forward to presenting it to "two of the three" of the show's judges. Cyrus, in a black dress with silver spangles, thanked several people, including her mother, father, agent, manager "and my lord and savior Jesus Christ."

Oh, Miley ... hang on to that down home innocence that you wear so well ... I'm sure it will serve you well as your career continues to blossom and expand. It wasn't that along ago that another teen popstress was peddling the same persona at events like these back in the late '90s. [Source]

As always, the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards is a big, fun awards event that is geared for kids and always manages to put some of the biggest celebs in very compromising positions ...

And really ... who wouldn't want to see Orlando Bloom covered in slime. I love that the Kid's Choice Awards even exists ... that celebs take note of the kid market and show up year after year to court that market says a lot about the power of kids. Of all the perennial awards shows that keep churning themselves out, this is one of the ones I look forward to most. I can't think of another show that so proudly puts poorly grown porn 'staches on display ... and not even in a dirty way. Love it. Did They Or Didn't They?

Star magazine is sticking to its report that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt got married in New Orleans, LA yesterday and X17 is providing photos of the church, the St. Louis Cathedral, where the couple reportedly got hitched but today People magazine is reporting that there was "no wedding" according to their sources:

Despite reports that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt wedded in a New Orleans church Saturday, a source close to the couple tells PEOPLE there was "no wedding." The family spent a weekend in New Orleans two weeks ago – as Pitt broke ground on his Make It Right project to help rebuild the city's Lower Ninth Ward – but they have recently been in the Austin, Texas, area while Pitt films Tree of Life with Sean Penn.

So, at this point, who knows who's right. If the family has, in fact, been in Texas over the weekend then the Star report would have no merit ... but the family has not been photographed, to my knowledge, so we still really don't know which "source" to believe. The story is still developing ... I guess we'll know soon. [Source]

Brangelina Married?

Star magazine is reporting that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt got married today in New Orleans, LA that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt got married today in New Orleans, LA:

Star can exclusively reveal that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, who are expecting twins this summer, tied the knot during an intimate wedding ceremony in the couple's adopted city of New Orleans, Louisiana on Saturday afternoon. As Star has reported, Brad had long wanted the ceremony to take place in the city devastated by Hurricane Katrina, while Angelina preferred a small, intimate ceremony in France. Clearly Brad won out as the planned ceremony took place in the French Quarter Wedding Chapel. The now husband and wife, along with their four children, are expected to return to Texas, where Brad is currently filming Tree of Life.

... but the report is light on specifics. I guess we'll know very soon if this huge story is true or not. More deets to follow ... thus far, no other media outlet is confirming this news. [Source]

Even More Than Meets The Eye?

Here are a couple of new photos of Decepticon police cars that were snapped in Culver City, CA and posted to the blog Internet Business Daily which seem to allude that work has begun on the sequel to the Transformers movie which came out last summer:

Could Transformers 2 be in some sort of pre-production? Could these cars be the first sign that the sequel will soon be upon us? It looks that way ... tho there is no word on who might star in the sequel. My guess is that Shia LaBeouf will be back for more but we still don't know anything about the movie at this point. The TV Guide: Takin' It Easy

Yesterday evening David and I met up with my friend Mike G. who is visiting SoCal from Detroit this weekend for a sumptuous sushi dinner at Koi where we pretty much ate and ate and ate until we couldn't any more. I wanted Mike to have a great dinner with us and I think it was mission: accomplished. After dinner, we made our way to WeHo to meet up with Mike's friend Amy for a couple of margaritas at Fiesta Cantina ... here are a few pics:

Happily we ran into my friends Michael and Ben who were also hanging out at Fiesta. Mike, Amy, David and I talked about going out afterwards to Akbar for dancing but we ended up drinking ourselves into submission. Needless to say it was an early night for David and me.

Tonight I'm trying to get as much of Le GangTM together as I can for a fun dinner together. Steph and Alek will be leaving for France for about a month tomorrow and we want to send them off in style. I hope the night won't end after dinner ... I'd like to do some bit of dancing this weekend but we'll have to see how the day plays itself out.

Boyish Charm

Here is a newish cameraphone picture of Zac Efron on the set of his new movie 17 Again (which was originally posted to the fan website Zefron.com) wherein he plays a young kid who magically grows up in order to learn a moral lesson about life and then becomes 17 again ... or something like that. Zac's character apparently thinks it's "really cool" to wear Ed Hardy clothes from head to toe while rockin' a boyishly askew cap on his head, just like all 17-year old kids do these days:

I love it! He's even wearing one of those wristbands that were so popular in the early part of this decade. Box office gold, y'all. Mark my words. [Source]

Northern Exposure

Lauren LC Conrad made her way up to the fair city of Toronto, Canada to personally bring her fashion line to the Holt Renfrew department store and then pay a little visit to the Much Music studios to greet her adoring fans ... here are a few pics of LC doing her best Whitney Port facial expressions to the throngs of fans who came out to meet and greet her at the Much Music studios this week:

Say what you will about LC, she really does work hard to maintain her empire. It may sound easy to just fly around the continent, lookin' pretty and smiling for the cameras but I'm sure there is more involved than just that. If you consider that Heidi Montag has attained her level of fame predominantly by sticking to the SoCal area (only sometimes venturing out to Las Vegas or NYC) and then compare that with the fact that LC has to fly all over the place (even to Europe) to hold her own. You gotta respect such a hard working woman ... and even if not, you simply cannot deny that The Hills kinda rules. [Source]

Please Don't Stop The Music

Danity Kane made their way to Las Vegas, NV to enjoy their official album release party at The Bank inside the Bellagio Hotel and Casino last night ... no doubt the girls were in high spirits since their second album Welcome to the Dollhouse debuted at #1 atop the Billboard album chart this week -- becoming the only female group in music history to debut at #1 with their first two albums. Here are a few pics from the ladies' soiree last night:

WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE," the new album from Bad Boy recording group Danity Kane, has made an explosive arrival atop the SoundScan/Billboard 200 album chart. This marks the group's second consecutive #1 chart entry -- following their 2006 RIAA platinum-certified, self-titled debut -- and gives them the distinction of being the first female group in Billboard chart history to have both their debut and sophomore albums enter the main album chart at #1. "WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE" also debuts at #1 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and #1 on SoundScan's Digital Albums chart. With sales of 236,000, the superstar girl group's sophomore release surpasses the first-week sales of their debut album, a remarkable achievement in today's marketplace. It also marks the biggest first week from a female pop or R&B group since Destiny's Child in 2001, and the largest debut from any female group in any genre since the Dixie Chicks in 2006. In addition, the album is 2008's second biggest-selling debut thus far, as well as the year's top debut from a female artist, besting recent collections from such notables as Janet Jackson, Erykah Badu, and Natasha Bedingfield. "This number one is for our fans, everything we do is for them," said the members of Danity Kane. "We would like to thank God, our families, Bad Boy, and Atlantic for all their love and continued support." "Over the past few years, I have not only been on a mission to make the bands, I have been on a mission to build careers," said Bad Boy CEO Sean "Diddy" Combs. "The triumphant #1 return of Danity Kane is dramatic proof that we are achieving our goal. With 'WELCOME TO THE DOLLHOUSE,' these gifted, beautiful, platinum-selling women have confirmed their enormous talent and undeniable star power. They've come into their own with a record displaying the depth, range, quality, and energy that creates devotion and longevity. Congratulations to Danity Kane for delivering the goods and to the staff of Bad Boy for putting them back on top in such grand style."

Holla! I must reiterate that I am living for their song Damaged right about now ... the song is so infectious, a bit mindless and very, very catchy. I couldn't be more happy for the girls on this latest accomplishment. Yes, much of their success comes from excellent marketing but you cannot deny the power of a catchy song. Diddy and MTV have come up with a winning formula for success ... it's too bad that O-Town wasn't able to capitalize in the same way on their first outing on Making The Band. Waitaminute, on second thought ... I don't know that the world really needed another song like Liquid Dreams ;) Do your thing, DK ... I'm really likin' what I hear thus far. [Source]

Author, Author

The majestic Helen Mirren was on hand at the Barnes & Noble on Fifth Ave. in NYC yesterday to sign copies of her new book In the Frame ... and she was lookin' faboo as hell. Here are a few pics of Helen at yesterday's book signing:

There is no doubt, Helen Mirren is a remarkable actress who has lived a long life in the biz. Her new book, subtitled My Life in Words and Pictures, seeks to tell her story in her own words. To be honest, I'm not sure I'm all that interested in reading an autobiography of the woman but I am a huge fan of her work. I had been impressed with her work for years now (do y'all remember her performances in Teaching Mrs. Tingle and Calendar Girls?) but it was her performance in The Queen that really sets the standard. And let's not forget that she is one sexy dame as well. Yes, I'm more interested in seeing Helen in action than reading about it but I can deffo appreciate how anyone could be interested in reading about her life. [Source]

Jared Leto Is Talkin' Crazy

Jared Leto brought his foppy new haircut to the Angelika Theater in NYC, NY earlier this week for one of two screening events for his new movie Chapter 27 (which opened in limited release on March 21) where he participated in a Q&A with theater attendees (which was transcribed, at least in portion, on the official Angelika Theater blog) ... here are a couple pics of Jared at this week's event:

Here are a couple questions and answers from Jared's movie discussion:

Q: You obviously put on a lot of weight for your role as Mark David Chapman. Was that a difficult decision to make? Why did you choose not to just wear a "fatsuit"?

A: It wasn't a difficult decision at all. I would say the difficulty came after the decision was made. It was important to take on the physical challenges of this transformational experience as well as the psychological/emotional. The weight helped indicate many things about the character for me. Although it was a very important and obvious part of the process it was still just one part of the overall journey. And one that I am definitely very happy to be finished with.

Q: Why do you think CHAPTER 27 documented only the weekend before John Lennon’s murder as opposed to delving further into MDC's life or psyche?

A: Probably best to ask director Jarrett Schaefer about this but he had a very specific vision for the film which I thought was incredibly interesting and non-traditional.

Click HERE to read the rest of the questions that were posted on the Angelika Theater blog. From what I've seen of this film (and Jared's performance) thus far, I really like what I see. While Jared Leto's musical talents are ... questionable (tho, personally, I think they're adequate) ... I have always been impressed with Jared's acting abilities. His performance in Requiem for a Dream is stunning. He even did a great job with his small role in Fight Club. Hell, he even rocked balls as Jordan Catalano in My So-Called Life. I'm convinced that Jared Leto will win critical acclaim for this role ... despite the fact that he stars opposite Lindsay Lohan. I can't wait to see it for myself. [Source]

What A Way To Make A Livin'

Country music icon Dolly Parton was joined by Broadway stars Megan Hilty, Stephanie J. Block and actress Allison Janney for the CTG/Ahmanson Theatre preview of 9 to 5: The Musical which was held at the House of Blues here in LA last night ... here are a few pics:

OMG ... this is so exciting! As you may recall, I was recently able to interview Megan Hilty about her upcoming role as Doralee Rhodes in the 9 to 5: The Musical and now the first official promo events are taking place. The show will open here at the Ahmanson Theater in September before it makes its Broadway debut next year. Broadway World posted video HERE of Dolly from yesterday's HoB preview event. I simply cannot wait to see this musical. I'm all about amazing pop culture stories making the transition to Broadway (ie. Xanadu, Legally Blonde) so clearly I'm very much looking forward to seeing this show. Dolly is a genius, I know she has put together a soundtrack that will set the musical on fire. Woot! This is great news ... it won't be long before we're able to see 9 to 5 live on stage. [Source]

Show Time

There are a couple new photos of mom-to-be Jamie Lynn Spears finally starting to show a baby bump worth talking about ... for the first time, we can actually see that her stomach is actually protruding enough to formally be classified as a bona fide baby bump. AND she's wearing the much talked-about engagement ring that babydaddy Casey Aldridge gave her recently. Her mother must be so proud. Things are coming along nicely for little JL and Casey Beau ... plans for their baby shower are also coming together nicely:

Jamie Lynn Spears took another step toward marriage and motherhood Thursday – registering for gifts at Babies R Us. Spears, who turns 17 on April 4, drove 80 miles to Baton Rouge from her home at the Serenity mansion in Kentwood, La., was reportedly accompanied by her cousin, and, "somebody called ahead to say they were coming in," a source told PEOPLE. Reportedly flashing an engagement ring on her left hand, Spears also was sporting a shirt that read "The Rumors Are True" as she and her cousin both registered for gifts at the store, according to sources. Casey Aldridge, 18, the baby's father, is listed as her "co-registrant" and the "event date" listed is July 10. Spears added the message: "Thank you for supporting us during this special time." The Zoey 101 star's choices ranged from a $1.49 teething ring to a $300 car seat. Other requests include an ultrasound frame, a Cookie Monster bath towel and a Baby Neptune Ocean Gym. Spears was careful not to select any pink or blue items, instead opting for sage-green terry cloth changing-pad covers and receiving blankets decorated with Disney characters such as Winnie the Pooh and Tigger.

Why, this lil' young'n is gonna be along in no time ... pour the moonshine, it's celebratin' time! Woot! Woot!! Woot!!! [Source]

J. Lo's Nursery Of Death

Parents magazine has posted a friendly memo to new parents Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony on their blog that calls attention to the fact that they believe the expensive nursery that has been put together for their twin children Max and Emme is, essentially, a baby death trap:

Dear J. Lo:

We all fight for first dibs on the office's People subscription, and this week everyone was dying to see the "world exclusive" pics of your newborn twins. Max and Emme are darling, natch, and you look as glam as ever—but Parents staffers were kinda shocked at the photo of the babies' ornate, Versailles-like nursery, which is filled with safety hazards. We want those sweet twins to stay out of harm's way, so we're begging you ... please babyproof!

• Take the pillows, stuffed animals and blankets out of the cribs—they're suffocation hazards.
• Get rid of the dramatic draped canopies hanging over the cribs, which can cause strangulation.
• Those cute bows tied onto the crib slats? Choking hazards as soon as the babies are big enough to get their hands on them.
• Throw a window guard on that open window!

Yours in safety,
Parents

Well, J. Lo is new at this mommy thing so I can cut her some slack but what is Marc Anthony's excuse? Doesn't he already have children? Shouldn't he know better? It doesn't really make sense that they would wait all this time to have children only to keep those children in a baby room of death. It would make sense if they got themselves a subscription to Parents mag just to be on the safe side. [Source]

The TV Guide: The Weekend Awaits

Last night, David and I were invited by Steph and Alek to have dinner with them at the home of their friend Francis and we happily accepted. It had been ages since I got to hang out with mes amis (a whole week, y'all) so I was anxious to see how the boys were doing. Francis has an amazing home so we had a really great night together. The night was very casual, very easy going.

Mike G. is in town this weekend, visiting from Detroit, and David and I want to do everything we can to show him a good time. We're doing an amazing sushi dinner tonight with possibly some dancing afterwards ... then who knows what else as the weekend progresses. This is Mike's first visit to LA so I hope has a great time ... the weather is gorge so I'm sure he'll have fun (currently it's 36 degrees at home in Detroit).

I'm sure there will be lots of fun to be had ... and I can't wait to get to it!

That Was Then ...

David Beckham and his lovely robotron wife Vicki B. celebrated the night away Wednesday night after Becks reached the 100th cap milestone with the English national soccer team in their game against France. Here are a few pics of Les Beckhams as they stepped out on the town in Paris, France hand in hand to get the party started:

To celebrate playing his 100th soccer game for England, David Beckham and wife Victoria Beckham chose to dine in Paris – at the same spot Eva Longoria and Tony Parker used for their wedding rehearsal dinner. Beckham's extended family were seated in the swanky Baccarat restaurant when the 32-year-old midfielder arrived late on Wednesday. The soccer star's three sons did not attend the midnight meal. Beckham is only the fifth Englishman ever to play 100 soccer games for his country. "When he walked in all the guests applauded his achievement," says a restaurant source. "David was happy and smiling even though the England team lost the game to France" ... In celebration, the Beckham clan dined on a nouvelle cuisine set menu at the eatery in Place des Etats-Unis. "They didn't have a champagne toast but Baccarat presented David with a cake at the end of the meal," says the source. "It was in the shape of a soccer ball and decorated with sparklers." The Beckhams were then due to return home to America in preparation for a Saturday match in Denver for his Los Angeles Galaxy.

Again, congrats to Becks on this latest achievement but the time for celebratin' is over ... Becks has to get back to work here in the US as the MLS soccer season kicks off this weekend. The LA Galaxy takes on the Colorado Rapids tomorrow evening at 6pm in Colorado with the home opener to take place on April 3. Becks still has a long way to go to win accolades of this nature in the US of A so he really needs to really buckle down and get to work. [Source]

Superhero Hype

Pamela Anderson, Tracy Morgan, Leslie Nielsen, Brent Spiner (the artist formerly known as Data on Star Trek: The Next Generation) among others were on hand at the Mann Festival Theater in Westwood, CA last night for the Hollywood premiere of the new superhero spoof movie Superhero Movie ... here are a few pics from the red carpet arrivals:

I don't know why but I am always such a sucker for these brainless spoofy movies (which tend to do very well at the box office so I know I'm not alone). I didn't really get into the sports spoof movie that came out last year but I'm a huge fan of the superhero movie genre so I think I might get a kick out of this one. I am a huge fan of the comic stylings of Leslie Neilson (from way back in the Airplane! movie days) so I'm just happy to support any movie that gives him a chance to make money :) Besides, the great thespian Pamela Anderson is also featured in this flick ... what's not to love? What's The 411, Dina?

Dina Lohan, mother of 4 [including wild child Lindsay Lohan] and aspiring reality TV star, was spied doing ... something ... at a youth center in Harlem, NY this week where she took her daugther Ali and her mother to exploit feature kids in her new reality TV show which is currently in production for E!

I'm not entirely sure what exactly is going on in these pics ... Dina is either:

A.) dying/suffering a seizure/possessed by evil spirits
B.) in the throes of a passionate sexual awakening/having hot flashes
C.) experiencing religious ecstasy (ie. she got the Holy Spirit)
D.) desperately trying to reclaim her youth by showing that she can "get down" with kids younger than she by dancing around like a fool

In any case, it's not a pretty picture. I can't wait to see this bullshizz on basic cable TV when the show debuts later on this year. [Source]
