G'Day, Mates!

Crikey! It's time to throw another shrimp on the barbie with all the Aussie love that has been going down here in LA this weekend. We knew that Kylie Minogue was spending the week here in SoCal to film the music video for her new single Wow but she also came to town to partake in the G'Day USA celebration which took place here in Hollywood last night as the culmination of her trip. Earlier this week we saw pics of Kylie sneaking onto the set of her music video and we also saw a couple pics of the lass doing a bit of shopping with her BFF Will Baker ... but here are a few pics of the beautiful Kylie Minogue shimmering in jewelry by TOUS on the red carpet of the G'DAY USA: Australia Week 2008 Black Tie Gala last night:

BUT, Kylie wasn't the only Aussie basking in the Aussie lurve at last night's gala, Olivia Newton-John, Julian McMahon, Emilie deRavin and Bindi & Terri Irwin were joined by a few American yanks for the celebration of all things Australian:

Kylie Minogue has scorched the red carpet in Hollywood. Australia's pop princess realised a lifelong dream when her childhood crush John Travolta presented her with an award at Saturday's G'Day USA Ball. Minogue was the star attraction at the event, sharing the red carpet with Travolta, Harrison Ford, Terri and Bindi Irwin and Australian sports stars including Steve Waugh and Mike Whitney. Olivia Newton-John also showed off her new man, multi-millionaire Hollywood film financier Michael Klein. Minogue wore a Grecian-inspired purple chiffon dress with a gold braided belt from Melbourne fashion house J'Aton, while the Irwins gave her a run for her money. Bindi wore a mint green dress a family friend had sent her and Terri showed off her physique in a fitted hot pink long dress with shoestring straps. Terri bought the dress from a US department store for $US80 ($A91) and donated $US15,000 ($A17,135), the cost of a designer gown, to a Tasmanian Devil charity. Australian director Phillip Noyce was also honoured at the event, with Ford presenting his award. Noyce directed Ford in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger. Minogue and Noyce were honoured for "significant contributions in their industries and for excellence in promoting Australia in the US". G'Day USA has grown from a week of events in Los Angeles in 2004 to this year's two-week festival spread across the US, with major tourism, trade, film and sporting events and balls in LA, New York and Houston. The LA ball has nudged its way into Hollywood's peak party period - Oscar season - matching the glamour film industry shindigs with plenty of Aussie star power. Last year, the G'Day Ball in LA honoured Naomi Watts, Russell Crowe and late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin. Other honourees include Cate Blanchett, Baz Luhrmann, Anthony LaPaglia, Mel Gibson, Olivia Newton-John, Hugh Jackman and INXS. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban met at a G'Day Ball. The glamour shifts to New York next week, where Bindi and Terri Irwin and boxing legend Muhammad Ali are expected to attend a Queensland government benefit dinner for Wildlife Warriors Worldwide. At another sold out G'Day USA Ball at Manhattan's Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Julian McMahon will be honoured, with his Fantastic Four co-star Jessica Alba introducing him to 1,000 guests who also paid up to $US20,000 ($A22,845) a table.

Holla! What a great event. I honestly never knew there was this much Aussie pride right here in the good ol' US of A. See, our respect and admiration for the land down under far exceeds our need to mock Aussie culture with themed restaurants like the Outback Steak House (but MMMMM those Aussie Chayze Froys are the serious bomb). While I think it's great that Aussies get a whole week of love and devotion anually, I think we need to love our Aussie friends on a daily basis. We deffo could use a whole more Kylie Minogue in this land of ours. [Source]

Over in NYC, Jennifer Lopez and her zombie hubby Marc Anthony were the guests of honor at a baby shower thrown in honor of their baby (babies? There are rumors that J. Lo is pregs with twins) on the rooftop of the Gramercy Hotel in Manhattan. Here are a few pics of J. Lo, Marc, their guests and their gifts making their way into the hotel yesterday afternoon:

Jennifer Lopez celebrated her pregnancy with a baby shower Saturday on the rooftop of the Gramercy Park Hotel in New York City. The singer and her husband Marc Anthony both attended the afternoon shower, which was hosted by Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Lopez's producer on the 2002 film Maid in Manhattan. Lopez, 38, "looked very pretty – and very pregnant," according to an eyewitness, who saw the couple arrive flanked by bodyguards. Among the guests were actress Leah Remini and designer Roberto Cavalli, who gifted Lopez with a pink leopard crib, according to a source. As for the décor, everything at the shower was blue and pink – and the room was covered with Swarovski crystal, said the source. Last month the singer, who is due in a few weeks, was given matching pink and blue Tuni & G onesies from her sister Lynda Lopez. The pop star has been mum about whether she's expecting twins, though multiple sources have told PEOPLE she's having two bundles of joy.

Pink reader Rubia gave me the head's up that the J. Lo shower was going down as it was happening yesterday. Again, I am so thrilled that Jenny Lo is finally gonna have the baby(ies?) that she's always dreamed of ... all this blue and pink biz makes it pretty clear that Jen and Marc are gonna be the proud parents of a boy and a girl!!! I can't wait :) [Source]

In Miami, FL, Pamela Anderson, who is flying solo since announcing that she is moving forward (once again) with her intent to divorce her latest hubby Rick Solomon, was a sight to behold on the red carpet of the 2008 All Star Gala which was held at the Ritz Carlton South Beach last night:

Sarah Michelle Gellar Prinze is featured in the new issue of Parade magazine where she gives a fairly insightful new interview where she talks about everything from her new movie The Air I Breathe, to why she decided to quit Buffy the Vampire Slayer to what is up with her new last name. Here are a few pics that accompany this interview:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer is back in action, this time in a big new crime drama called The Air I Breathe. "It's really about emotions," said the diminutive (5-foot-3) Emmy Award-winning Sarah Michelle Gellar, who plays a pop star entangled with mobsters alongside Forest Whitaker, Brendan Fraser, Andy Garcia, Julie Delpy and Kevin Bacon. "I've seen a close-to-final cut," Sarah said, "and my gut reaction is tough to say or to be objective about. But, oh, what a cast!" Sarah broke into showbiz at age 4, when a talent agent saw her eating in a restaurant and cast her in a TV movie. By 1993, the kid was playing Susan Lucci's daughter, the unscrupulous Kendall Hart, on All My Children and after two years earned an Emmy. "That show was one of the great experiences of my life," said Sarah. This despite reports that there was friction between her and Lucci on the set. I asked if Sarah considered herself high-maintenance or a diva. "Not at all," she said. "I'm a crew type." While still very young, Sarah studied martial arts, boxing and gymnastics, which came in handy when she began "slaying vampires" as a teenage superhero on Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1997. The popular fantasy series ran for six years and garnered Gellar various awards and Golden Globe nominations. So what really happened at the end of Buffy and its spinoff, Angel? Did Sarah just bail out on them? "No, I don't think you turn your back on anything," said Sarah. "I was just simply physically unavailable to continue doing the roles" because of new projects she was being offered at the time. Fans had hopes for a feature film to be spun off of Buffy, but they were dashed when Sarah insisted on reading scripts before committing ... So what's next for the young TV icon? What's her dream? "To get back onstage," Sarah said wistfully, referring to past off-Broadway work she has done. "Broadway is truly my first wish." I asked Sarah to straighten me out about her name these days. She's still "Gellar" professionally but "Prinze" in private life after five years of marriage to actor Freddie Prinze Jr., with whom she's also worked in a couple of films. "My friends know me as Prinze," she told me, "but I'll answer to just about anything. Sometimes people mistake me for Sarah Jessica Parker, and I answer to that too." Gellar/Prinze did, however, knock down a couple of phony press reports about her: When I asked if she's really a close friend of Britney Spears, Sarah laughed. "No," the actress told me. "We've only met a few times."

Woot! I'm glad she clarified the name thing ... cuz I kinda hate callng her SMP. Until we become besties, I'm gonna stick with calling her SMG since that is what she goes by professionally. I still have hopes for the return of Buffy one day ... the BtVS: Season 8 comic book series is keepin' the storyline alive ... I predict that SMG will one day sharpen her stakes again and reprise the role that has endeared her to millions of fans the world over. Woot!! [Source, Source]

Here are a few new Ashlee Simpson promo phots, shot by Ben Watts, for her new album Bittersweet World:

Thankfully these pics were shot back before she dyed her hair. I kinda don't like her new reddish hair ... and I really wish she'd go back to the dark black hair I love. BUT ... I'm still very excited for the release of her new album in April. Click HERE to see more promo pics from her Ben Watts photoshoot at Ashlee-Star.com. [Source]

Do you remember an actress named Demi Moore? She used to be superhuge in the 90's and used to be married to some other actor who strikes me as totally forgettable and is currently wed to Ashton Kutcher. Anyways, Demi is featured on the cover and in the pages of the new issue of V magazine:

Demi looks very lovely in these pics ... I wonder whatever happened to her. [Source]

And finally ... it's time to partake of the Hot Dude of the Week. Let us take a gander at hotboy Bryan who is wearing a smirk, a pair of sunglasses and not much else:

I must admit ... I like Bryan's hat, I really do ... I would just love to see him sans the hat, you know? Hahahaha ... oh well ... I'll take what I can get. Weeee!!! [Source]

Les News:
After enjoying a really fun, really eventful week, I decided to take the day off yesterday. I spent the day maxin' and relaxin' watchin' movies, reading a bit and generally just being as lazy as possible. I did tidy up my apartment a bit ... so I guess I was a bit productive.

Tonight, a bunch of us are going to the Mr. Gay Competition which is being held at The Music Box at the Henry Fonda Theater. Needless to say, we're pretty excited. I understand that tickets are still available for tonight's festivities but can only be purchased at the door. It sounds like it's gonna be a very fun event and I can't wait to give all the deets tomorrow.

And soooo ... I guess that is all ... hope y'all's weekend is going well. I am out.
