"Goodbye, My Friend"

Uh-oh ... I don't like the tale that these new pictures of Britney Spears seem to be telling ... while on a little shopping jaunt to the Levi's store in Beverly Hills, CA yesterday, Brit Brit stepped up to face the amassed throng of photogs who were photographing her every move and she seemed to be inspecting the merch -- as if she were trying to determine which one she might pick out of the crowd to take home with her:

It looks as if she might be having a hard time staying on the wagon. Perhaps if her father and conservator, Papa Jamie Spears, were to accompany her on these shopping trips then he might be better able to curb her cravings. The last thing she needs to be doing is hanging out with the paparazzi again. In positive news, the court as thrown out the claim that Britney's case needs to be moved to the federal court system, which means that jurisdiction will remain here in LA, on a local level. It would appear that Osama Sam Lutfi is quickly running out of tricks and is learning that he may never get to dig his claws into our dear Britney again. I think this deserves a Woot! Woot! [Source]

Toronto, Canada was the site of the very last Spice Girls concert ever last night as Les Spices brought to a close their much anticipated, much hyped Spice Girls Reunion Tour at the Air Canada Centre. Here are a few pics from last night's final Spice Girls concert:

"Goodbye girls." The hot pink sign near the edge of the stage said it all, as the Spice Girls wrapped up their reunion tour last night at the Air Canada Centre, their fourth date with the city after capacity shows at the ACC Feb. 3 and 4, and Monday. It was an emotional farewell, with Emma Bunton (Baby), Victoria Beckham (Posh), Melanie Brown (Scary), Geri Halliwell (Ginger) and Mel Chisholm (Sporty) gathering at for a group hug and individual embraces as the show went on. For the first – and probably last – time Bunton, Brown and Beckham brought their children onstage near the end of the 95-minute concert. To the delight of the crowd, Beckham's youngest son, Cruz, wearing a "Posh Spice" T-shirt and red baseball cap, demonstrated some fledgling breakdance moves. "I just got to say, as you know, this is the last night of the tour and we never dreamt we'd ever back together and be such a success and who knows if we'll ever get back together again," said Halliwell. While the quintet delivered their "girl power," the near-capacity crowd delivered ear-ringing lung power as the Spice Girls closed their final performance with "Spice Up Your Life." Rumours of backbiting and behind-the-scenes fighting have trickled out – and been denied – since Dec. 2, when the reunion tour began in Vancouver. Chisholm publicly called rumours of internal strife "a lot of rubbish." Beckham made it clear that she considers this tour the last one, telling Reuters earlier this month that she wanted to show her three sons with soccer superstar David Beckham that "mummy was once a pop star." "It's the last opportunity there will be to see the Spice Girls together," Beckham said firmly ... Local fans campaigned to have Toronto voted Spice City last summer. Their loyalty was rewarded with extra dates on the tour. Band members told the U.K.'s Daily Mail recently that family commitments prevented them from extending the tour to places like Australia, China, South America and South Africa ... Paula Acuna, 17, of Mississauga came with her mom, Sandra, who gave her the tickets as a Christmas present. "I feel bad for, like, all the other countries that didn't get to see them. But I feel lucky," Acuna said ... At a downtown nightclub following the group's penultimate concert, Mel B. said she wasn't thinking of last night's show as the final concert, saying: "Our friendship will go on forever, so who knows?"

Clearly this reporter had no idea that the Spice Girls have routinely brought their children on stage (last night's show was not the "first" time) ... and I'm actually kind of surprised that the show setlist wasn't amended a bit for the final show. They should've closed the tour with their song Goodbye (which was performed in the middle of the set). But, now that all the happy togetherness is finally finished, the individual Spices can now carry on with their solo careers:

The Spice Girls wrapped up their kitschy and nostalgic reunion tour Tuesday the same way they started it - in front of their dedicated Canadian fans - and with each of the campy quintet's members aiming for future solo success ... But whether their mantra of "girl power" can catapult each performer - each with solo ventures that have remained overshadowed by their decade-old past - to future success is far from certain. They're unlikely to ever taste fame as glorious as this, said gossip guru Tanya Kim, of CTV's ETalk. "They'll probably never be as much of a powerful force as they were when they were together," said Kim, noting that Spice Girl Melanie Brown has come close to approaching such heights with her recent stint on "Dancing With the Stars." "But Posh (Victoria Beckham), come on, out of all of them, I don't think she has anything to worry about. But that's also because she's riding off (soccer star husband) David's (Beckham) coat-tails a little bit." Inserting herself into Hollywood's A-list assures her a solid future in the public eye, as well, Kim said. "When you befriend Tom (Cruise) and Katie (Holmes) and Will (Smith) and Jada (Pinkett Smith) I'm sure you're going to be just fine. Watch, we'll see her in movies" ... Some devotees at the Air Canada Centre said they detected a note of sadness among the Spices as they brought the tour to a close, with Mel C apparently crying at one point. But overall, emotions were kept largely in check, said fan Jeremy Fechner. "It almost seemed as if they were relieved it was over," said Fechner, noting it was one of the more elaborate and best-done productions he's ever seen. "It's a grueling show." Geri Halliwell, a.k.a. Ginger, has said that the band will not reunite again, but admitted she said that the last time all five stood together onstage in 1998 when she left to pursue a solo career. Halliwell is said to be planning a series of children's books that feature a young heroine, a venture that has fan Karen Kenny musing that Halliwell and the others feel it's time to carve out a new adult identity. "I think she's at a different stage at her life," Kenny, 34, said while waiting at the Air Canada Centre for the show to start. "She's a mother now and I think we're just seeing a different side to her, a lot softer of a side." She predicted continued success for Beckham, but doubted the rail-thin celeb would continue with music. Beckham has declared fashion her real passion, and prefaced her Toronto farewell as a pop star with an afternoon appearance at Holt Renfrew in support of her eyewear and denim line, dVb. After the tour, Brown, a.k.a. Scary Spice, will take on correspondent duties for the gossip TV show, "Access Hollywood." Melanie Chisholm, a.k.a. Sporty Spice, has been heavily promoting her solo singing career with side gigs along the tour route, while Bunton, a.k.a. Baby, has a newborn to look after. [Source, Source]

Getting back to the Spice kids again, they were hauled out on stage during the Mama performance and little Cruz Beckham was allowed to perform his little break-dancing routine again:

It is quite clear that the little kid loves performing on stage ... we will be seeing more of this side of him as he grows up. Here is a really great, SUPER ADORABLE vid clip of Cruz's dance performance last night:

OMG ... seriously, it's the cutest thing I've seen in a long time.

But after all the dancing, all the hugging and all the hamming it up for the cameras was finished it was time for the Spice Girls to say goodbye at long last. Here is the full text of the blogpost that went live on the official Spice Girls website as soon as their final show was finished last night:

Hello...

Our time is up ... we've come to the end of the road ... there are tears of both sadness and joy. Look how far we've come!

Who would have thought that our reunion could have turned out to be this amazing? It just shows what can grow out of an exciting thought, an idea, a hope, a dream. Yes, our reunion tour is proof that dreams do come true.

We have been lucky enough to have shared it with the most loyal fans in the world. Ten years on, you came back still wanting more ... and it looks like we made some new friends along the way. You have inspired and ignited us with each show, the 47 that we performed, each time was amazing and it is thanks to you.

So we look to the future with hope and imagination and let Girl Power live on through all of you as it will continue in us and the future generations to come.

We have learnt so much through you and through each other.

"Never give up on the good times always believe in the love you find."

We hate goodbyes but sadly the time has come to take our final bow so maybe our song says it best:

"Goodbye my friend, it's not the end ... So glad we made it, time will never ever change it ... "

Mission Accomplished...

Love

Emma, Geri, Mel B, Melanie C and Victoria
xxxxx

And that, folks, is that. If you were among the lucky folks who were able to see the Spice Girls on this tour then I hope you are able to savor your memories ... I honestly believe that the girls shant ever tour again. But take heart, we do have 5 mediocre solo careers to look forward to! [Source, thanks Chloe and Sam]

Before the Spice Girls convened for their last concert together ever, Vicki B. spent some time pressing the flesh with some faithful fans at an in-store appearance to promote her dVb denim line at Canadian department store Holts Renfrew ... here are a few pics:

Fashion mogul in training Victoria Beckham took time out from the Spice Girls reunion tour, which ended last night, to promote her dVb fashion line at a department store in Toronto. Posh arrived to a screaming crowd at Canadian store Holts Renfrew to ... promote her high-end denim collection. And clearly she made a new pal, a nattily dressed pooch, which she scooped into her arms to pose for a picture with. Ultra-slim Posh wore an equestrian-style blazer along with a pair of tight faded dVb jeans, and tan high-heeled boots to the store signing which attracted many Spice Girl fans, some of whom had come straight from the previous night's concert. The 33-year-old mother of three is predicted to earn £15million from her dVb brand, launched a few years ago, which now sells sunglasses, denim and handbags. And following the end of the Spice Girls reunion tour, which ended with Cruz Beckham's breakdancing bringing down the house in Toronto last night, Posh is clearly keen to get back to the day job. She said recently: "I've been thinking about this for a long time. I'm not in the music industry any more. I'm in the fashion industry. "I'm putting together a team of people now so it will be my main project when I finish this tour."

Now, this might sound crazy and a little hard to believe ... but I'm kinda bummed that VB isn't planning a return to singing. I know that I give her grief on the blog for her singing but I quite like her solo music. Granted, it's not all great but she did manage to put out some fun songs (Let Your Head Go is one of my fave dance songs) and I was kinda hoping for at least one more solo album from her. I get that she's all into fashion (and that she will prolly find more success working in that field) but still ... I'm gonna miss those fun Vicki B. music videos ...

... meh, you never know ... she may feel the itch and make pop music again some day.

In other Beckham news, David Beckham was on the other side of the planet as Les Spices took their final bows in Canada ... Becks and the LA Galaxy are in South Korea this week preparing for a 3-match Asian tour of soccer games. Here are a few pics from a press conference that Becks participated in this morning (local time) ... it was during this press conference that Becks revealed that he is not in fit enough shape to make his 100th appearance for his England team:

David Beckham says he is still not fit enough to return to international duties in what would be his 100th appearance for England. "I would love to reach hundred caps, but I have to be physically ready to be part of the team," Beckham told a media conference in Seoul on Wednesday. "All I've done is training, so I have no match fitness." Beckham arrived in the South Korean capital as his Major League Soccer club, the Los Angeles Galaxy, kicked off a three-match Asian tour. The Galaxy will play FC Seoul in a friendly match Saturday before continuing their tour in Shanghai, China, on March 5 and Hong Kong on March 9. Former England captain Beckham was denied his 100th national team appearance last month by new England coach Fabio Capello, who thought the midfielder lacked form as he had not played a competitive match since November. "I played under Fabio Capello before, you know," said Beckham, who was with Real Madrid when the Italian was in charge. "He is a great manager and a good person," Beckham added. "He is a manager that I understand well and he is a manager that also, I've said before, that will pick players if he believes they are fit enough. And with me playing no games it was only right that there are other players that played many games," he said.

Poor Becks. I'm sure he would've loved to play for the English team but ... c'est la vie. Maybe it's time for him to just forget all of that outside stuff and focus on playing for his new team, the LA Galaxy ... then maybe they can start winning some games ;) [Source]

Okay ... moving on ... here are a few pictures from Janet Jackson's appearance on MTV's TRL yesterday afternoon as well as a couple of photos from her autograph in-store appearance that she did at a Best Buy in NYC last night:

As I'm sure y'all're well aware, Janet released her latest album Discipline yesterday and she spent the majority of the day doing promo appearances and performances to celebrate its release. While hanging out with my friends Steph and Alek yesterday I was able to hear the album a couple of times ... and I love it! It is so much better than her last couple of albums. It is so good, in fact, that I can overlook her poorly over-permed hairdo and just focus on the music. [Source]

Ashlee Simpson was joined by her loverman Pete Wentz at her performance party at Marquee in NYC last night which was sponsored by Caribou Iced Coffee. Here are a few pics from her shindig last night:

Ashlee performed a short set of songs, staring off with L.O.V.E. and then 3 new songs (Keep Me in the Dark, Boys and Outta My Head) off her new album Bittersweet World. I understand that Ash and Pete were pretty affectionate all night long and that Pete really enjoyed her performance (as well he should if he plans to continue getting nookie from her). Ashlee has been doing a lot of early promo work for her new album ... which is still months away from release. I can't wait to hear what all the fuss is about myself. [Source]

Pink is the new Bowler? Sorry I couldn't resist ... here are a few really fun pics of Rihanna enjoying a game of bowling with some friends after the Brit Awards in London last week:

And in other Rihanna news ... we finally have some PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE that she and Chris Brown are doing it. And by "doing it", I mean swimming together in a pool in Jamaica which absolutely DOES NOT MEAN they are engaging in any sort of sexual activities at all. [Source]

So ... we've already seen what Hugh Jackman looks like with his Wolverine facial hair (which you may or may not have noticed in recent pictures depending on how distracted you were by his half-nekkid, dipping wet and incredibly sexy body) and now we get to see what Liev Schriber looks like with his Sabretooth facial hair (he is playing Wolverine's arch nemesis in the new Wolverine Origins movie):

I dunno ... I think the edge has to go to Hugh. I'd have to see Liev wearing a lot less clothes to make an accurate determination. [Source]

Sad face. The long arm of the law has finally reached out and tapped Mischa Barton on the shoulder ... telling her that she is being charged with DUI, weed possession and driving without a valid license ... bummer:

Mischa Barton has been charged with driving under the influence and possession of marijuana, stemming from her arrest in December, prosecutors announced Tuesday. The former star of The O.C. was also charged with driving without a valid license. Her arraignment on the misdemeanor charges is set for Thursday in Beverly Hills Superior Court. Barton, 22, was arrested for investigation of DUI in West Hollywood on Dec. 27 after her vehicle was seen straddling two lanes of traffic and she failed to signal when making a turn, police have said.

Meh ... she'll get probation and a fine ... this time. Heaven help her if she should get busted for the same thing again any time soon. She has a 50/50 chance of suffering a Paris Hilton jail sentence fate over a Nicole Richie one. [Source]

After hemming and hawing for the past couple of months, Pamela Anderson has finally decided to end her latest marriage to Rick Solomon by way of annulment ... er, I think ... well, at least for today:

Court documents show that Pamela Anderson is seeking an annulment, rather than a divorce, from husband Rick Salomon. The actress is seeking to annul the two-month marriage based on fraud. No other details were available, and Anderson's publicist did not immediately return an e-mail request for comment Tuesday. In court papers filed in Los Angeles on Friday, Anderson asked the court not to award spousal support and to keep her and Salomon's income and property separate. On Monday, Anderson filed a request to have a retired judge handle the annulment proceedings — a common practice in celebrity split-ups as it keeps matters private and out of the court. Anderson and Salomon, both 40, were married Oct. 6 in Las Vegas and separated Dec. 13. He's best known for making a sex videotape with then-girlfriend Paris Hilton and was previously married to actress Shannen Doherty. Anderson was previously married to singer Kid Rock and Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee.

Er ... to clarify ... Pammy Pie actually married Kid Rock 4 times in the same year so that should count for extra points, I think. I really hope this annulment goes thru quickly ... I can't wait to see who Pamela decides to marry next. [Source]

People magazine has scored the first photos of Nicole Richie and Joel Madden's baby girl Harlow Winter ... here is a little preview of the issue of People magazine which features our very first look at Little Miss Harlow:

Oh man ... is she the cutest thing ever? She looks like the perfect blend of both mommy and daddy. I can't wait to see what the rest of the People magazine pictures will look like :) [Source]

Ali Lohan is tired of waiting in the wings for her chance at superstardom ... and she's using Teen Vogue magazine to put the world on notice -- her time is now, bitches -- and y'all aren't ready. Here is a preview of her new interview with Teen Vogue magazine:

ON MAKING IT IN HOLLYWOOD: "I want it so bad. So bad you don't even know. And now, it's actually happening."

ALI, ON HER NEW REALITY TV SHOW: "It's not all that fake stuff. It's just what we do in our everyday life."

ALI, ON BIG SISTER LINDSAY: "I grew up watching Lindsay, and it made me want to do what she does. Just the whole vibe. Being there, being on camera, or onstage, with everybody listening to you ... it's so cool when people look up to you. I've already been asked for my autograph, and it's just a really good feeling to have."

In other news, the Promises Rehab Facility in Malibu, CA have already broken ground on the new Lohan Wing of their complex. Ali Lohan's suite should be ready for her arrival by this weekend. [Source]

Gwen Stefani, looking nothing at all like Gwen Stefani, is featured on the cover of the new issue of V magazine ... behold:

It's a freaky pic ... but very high fashion. It's not really my fave Gwen look but I can dig it. [Source]

Woot! Woot! The good news is that the new issue of the revived A&F Quarterly magazine/catalog/gay porn mag has got a release date of April 5th ... the bad news is that it will only be available in the UK since the magazine tends to get all the up-tight people in this country all riled up. Here is what the cover of the new issue will look like:

LONDON: Fast-forward to April 5. It is just before 10 a.m. on a Saturday morning but there is a party going on - a "queue party," a frenzy of beautiful people waiting to enter Abercrombie & Fitch's London store. At least that is the plan, devised to launch (read: hype) the American casual wear brand's latest "hero product." Not an "It" bag or trophy sunglasses (both so 2007). No, the fuss and fanfare will be for the return of A&F Quarterly, the in-house fashion magazine that was dropped in 2003 after protests about its racy - some critics said pornographic - content. The "magalogue" - a catalogue dressed up as a magazine and usually mailed free or distributed in retail outlets - is having a moment ... "A&F Quarterly is all about lifestyle," says Tom Lennox, its vice president of corporate communications. "It's a lifestyle that encapsulates confidence, privilege, intelligence, beautiful people, sex and humor."

Let me just say that I am all for the "confidence, privilege and intelligence" bologna they are trying to peddle as long as the pics of the hot nekkid folks NOT wearing the Abercrombie and Fitch clothing they're trying to promote are kept intact. Even tho the mag isn't being distributed here in the US I'm sure it'll find its way to our sunny shores :) [Source]

Here is our first look at the cover artwork for Tokio Hotel's debut US album Scream:

Scream is scheduled for an April release ... is America ready for this German phenomenon? [Source]

And finally ... here are a couple of really sweet pictures of rugby superstar Ben Cohen posing with his twin baby daughters in an homage to the famous Man and Baby Athena poster which featured model Adam Perry and was hugely popular in the 80's:

Getting a baby to behave as the cameras click can be difficult. But Ben Cohen, father of twin girls, had his hands full when he tried to get his daughters to smile together on cue. The 29-year-old former England rugby star was hoping to recreate an updated version of the classic sepia image of man and child that sold five million Athena posters in the 1980s. But his wriggling, giggling, five-month-olds Isabelle and Harriett refused to play ball. It took three hours to come up with the final shot of him holding Isabelle, who decided to co-operate for just long enough. Cohen is the face of the Problem Shared campaign, which supports first-time fathers. The iconic Athena poster of male model Adam Perry was one of the best-known images of the 1980s. Known as 'Man and Baby, the picture was taken by photographer Spencer Rowell.

OMG ... whether you're familiar with the 1986 poster or not, these pics of Ben with his babies are SOOOO CUTE! He really puts the -ILF in DILF. [Source]

Les News:
Yesterday was a very cool day for me. I was able to spend quite a bit of time hanging out with the amazing Steph and Alek, best known for their blog Oh La La and their new online fashion magazine Bello Magazine. I was under the impression that the guys spent most of their time in Paris, France so I was very happy to learn that they spend much of their time here in LA. The guys invited me to their place to catch-up and participate in an interview for the next issue of Bello (which is scheduled to go online in March). We had an amazing time ... they are the coolest guys ... and now that I know they live so close, I'm sure we'll be hanging out a lot more often. Here are a couple amazing photos that Steph and Alek shot of us yesterday:

I swear to the Gods, the guys have a magic camera. They actually made me look good :)

After hanging out with the Frenchies, I made my way to Culver City to meet up with Darion for dinner at Tender Greens (which is one of the best restaurants I've been to in ages ... amazing home-cooked food at ridiculously low prices) before going to see The Orphanage:

D and I have been talking about seeing this movie forever and we finally made the time to see it before it left theaters. Guillermo Del Toro produced this creepy Spanish film and, I have to say, did an amazing job with it. It's not really a horror film ... it's insanely creepy and very suspenseful. The story is just amazing ... I'm convinced Del Toro can do no wrong. I absolutely loved his movie Pan's Labyrinth and I quite enjoyed this movie, too. If you do see it, don't see it alone ... I cannot recommend seeing this movie sitting in that dark theater by yourself.

Ack ... I have a few things to take care of today ... David arrives tomorrow night ... the temperature will get into the 80s today ... life is good.

I'm out.
